Downton Abbey Inspired Crochet Hats

Because I love to crochet… AND I love Downton Abbey, I’ve been on the lookout for some vintage flapper and 1920’s crochet hat patterns.  I’ve found a few that I liked, but nothing that said “BUY ME NOW”.  Well, that is, until I found Kallie Designs shop on etsy.  I’m not even sure how I found her patterns – I wasn’t looking, but one of her hat patterns popped up in a search for something else.  Anyway, check out these hat patterns:

I think the green one is my favorite, but I seriously love all three of them.  Now, the question is… would YOU wear a Downton Abbey inspired cloche hat?

How To Crochet a Ruffle Scarf ~ DIY Ruffle Sashay Scarf

One of my passions is crocheting, and helping others learn to crochet (or at least enjoy the crochet items I make for them!).

Last fall, I decided I really, REALLY wanted to make some of those super popular ruffle sashay scarves, and I set out to find a crochet pattern for them. (Just to be clear, “Sashay” is a specific type of ruffle yarn from Lion Brand).  Anyway, after much searching for patterns, I ended up creating my own, because all the patterns I found were rather difficult to follow.

Would you like to make your own Sashay Ruffle scarf? Now you can!

I have turned my pattern into a downloadable CROCHET pattern to teach you how! The pattern is easy to follow, and if you have basic crochet skills, you can have a ruffle scarf made in a very short time!

I include photos and a step-by-step description of how to make the scarf, and I also include simple instructions on making them child-size.  I have taught people with little-to-no crochet experience how to make these, so I know YOU can make one too!

Etsy On Sale – a review

If you are an etsy seller, and you would like to put your items on sale in your shop, you need to check out the new app from EtsyOnSale.com.   I tried it this last week, with several items in my DelightCrochet.etsy.com shop.

Joining EtsyOnSale.com is quick and easy, and I think it took me all of ten minutes to set up my first sale.  I moved several items to a “sale” category in my shop, clicked through the “set up” form in a jiffy, and voila – 17 items on sale for 10% off.

The only thing I would prefer is if I didn’t to actually move any listings, but could hand-pick random items and put them on sale.  Beyond that little nit-pick, I was completely happy with the set-up process.

I have been watching my stats this week, and I had a little extra traffic from the site.  I had one sale that was “pink related” (which was the theme of my sale).  Whether this sale was directly from traffic from EtsyOnSale.com or not, I’m not sure… but either way, the app made it quick and easy for me to discount a few of my items!  I’ll definitely be planning another sale in November.

Holiday Accessories

In just a few short days, Halloween will be over and it will officially be “the holiday season”. We are FINALLY starting to get cooler weather here in Vegas, and we even broke out the light jackets for the kids this week! I’ve been crocheting hats during every spare moment and all three of my kids now have cute hats, even though we have such a short fall and winter season.

For those of you who live where it’s considerably colder, for much longer, I wanted to share links to a few of the hats in my shop:

Baby Oh Baby – Some Hattitude – An Etsy Treasury

I was doing searches in Etsy Treasury (one of my favorite things to do on etsy, besides makes sales), and I found one of my hats in one from way back in August. Definitely needed to share, even if it’s from awhile ago.

I ALSO asked for some help in the forums, and found out about a tool that allows me to offer treasuries here on the blog that are CLICKABLE. As in, all the items in the treasury will click on over to their respective etsy shop pages!  You can get the code made for any treasury, with WhaleSharkWebsites.

Check it out (and keep in mind that this is an older treasury, so some of the items have been sold):

Etsy Fun Finds – The Feel of Autumn Treasury

We have had a really long, late summer here in Las Vegas, and it’s only just now starting to cool off and feel “autumn-like”.  I’m trying to get into the spirit of things and enjoy every minute of our fresh fall weather.  You can expect to see a few “Fall/Autumn” treasuries featured here over the next week or two.  Here’s the first, curated by Inspired By Marie.  The image below is clickable to the Treasury!

What. No Mints? An Etsy Shop…

I had SO much fun yesterday looking at all the etsy minis from shop owners who contacted me.  I was able to heart a bunch of items to feature and showcase here in the coming weeks, and first up to be featured are some adorable items from whatnomints.etsy.com.   She announces in her shop, “discover cute, embroidered, science and nerdy felt goodies that will add some handmade personality to your day-to-day!”  And, she is SO right!  Here are a few of my favorites, perfect for fall (and the science geek in you).
